Ok so here’s the skinny on affiliate marketing- the principles behind it are simple, but no, it definitely isn’t easy, and it does requires a lot of hard work. There we go- article over….
Oh crap, that doesn’t really tell you what affiliate marketing is, right? To put it simply, affiliate marketing is when you promote specific items in order to make a commission on each sale. Nowadays most people promote these products through websites, but the principles behind affiliate marketing certainly aren’t exclusive to the web. You can either decide to promote actual physical products, such as clothes and technology, or promote downloadable items such as E-Books and software.
Many people engaging in affiliate marketing underestimate the work involved in getting new sites off the ground and then building traffic. Yes, it is hard work. However, once you have a successful site that’s generating you money 24/7 you can then simply maintain it, which in reality involves very little work- that’s the beauty of affiliate marketing…. It generates you money whilst you sleep! And that is the way of the dude! [click to continue…]

Yes I do realise that it’s nearly April and I am only just posting about my goals for the year- But don’t forget, I am the Passive Income Dude, and I like to take things eaaassssyyy…..
In all seriousness it’s really important to build a plan at the beginning of each year- I do this for my main business (photography) as well as internet marketing (My main photography website is here). You need to map out your key objectives in terms of site and content development, SEO and monetization. I like to set myself an overall financial goal for the year too and that ‘chunk it’ back into smaller goals for each site.
This year is my first full year of internet marketing, so I have set myself the realistic goal of earning £1,000 by the end of the year. This may not seem much, but I only have a limited amount of time to devote to my sites this year. My plans for 2013 will be nothing short of world domination (insert Doctor Evil maniacal laugh)!!! You’d have to be living on Mars or at the very least an igloo, not to hear about the demise of Build My Rank, one of the biggest blog networks out there. I have to admit that I was a big user of Build My Rank myself, and benefited considerably from their services. In fact I had one or two niche sites that were built on a foundation of BMR backlinks (at least 50% of their total link profile!) So you can imagine my reaction when I heard the news that Google had de-indexed every single last one of their posts!
The good news is that, for the most part, I haven’t been penalised. I’ve simply lost the benefit of the BMR links I had historically built up. And, on reflection, I’ve learned a very valuable lesson… [click to continue…]

I’m not an overtly religious person, though like many people I have some spiritual beliefs. And I’m certainly not the kind of person that uses religious metaphors that often, but I’ll make an exception in this case. You see I did have a kind of epiphany 6 months ago, albeit not quite on the scale of St.Paul on the road to Damascus!
For me the epiphany was all about the potential to make a really good living through generating multiple ‘passive income’ sources, especially through internet marketing. It was brought about by reading George Marshall’s book ‘Get Out While You Can- Escape the Rat Race’, a fabulous read that I would wholeheartedly recommend to everyone. [click to continue…]

Greetings fellow internet marketers and welcome to the Passive Income Dude. This gnarly new blog will chart my attempts to conquer the world of internet marketing in a fresh and honest way. So many internet marketing blogs out there are a little disingenuous, and dishonest. Yes, I will be promoting some affiliate products but I promise you two things. One, these will be products that I personally use myself, and two, I will give you ‘warts and all’ honest reviews.
As I have only been an ‘internet marketer’ for a little over 6 months I am relatively new to this game. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage. What I will offer you is honest updates on how things are going, as well as a review of what has worked well for me, and those things that haven’t worked as well (and believe me there are tons of those!)
